SIMENON: A MULTIFACETED BELGIAN AUTHOR

Georges Simenon (1903-1989), a world famous Belgian genius author, was one of the most popular and prolific writers of the twentieth century. With over 550 million copies of his books sold in different languages around world, he published 193 novels, 158 novellas, several autobiographical works, numerous other works, and scores of pulp novels written under more than two dozen pseudonyms. Furthermore, Simenon had a great influence on movies. His novels have been adapted into film hundreds of times, and his works are the most rearranged works in the French film industry. At the same time, he was a low-key photographer. As a journalist and editor, Simenon was one of the first reporters to use photography as a way of delivering news.
