The Multicultural Library is located on the eighth floor of the north tower and features various sections for books of different nations, with reading areas and spaces for exhibition and activities. The library collects materials from numerous countries in various languages which are available for lending, reference and information services. The library also conducts various cultural events and provides a platform for multicultural display, communication and interaction.
      The Multicultural Library's collection is founded on materials from Guangzhou's sister city libraries and the consulates of various nations. The collection includes works from and about 13 nations including the United States, Germany, France, Britain, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Russia, Belgium, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, and China. The collection contains about 50,000 volumes from both domestic (including Taiwan and Hong Kong) and international publishers and the literature focuses on disciplines such as culture, literature, art and history and geography, covering many languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Korean and Japanese. The library makes every effort to show the public the unique cultural characteristics of each country and region.
      Relying on multicultural resources, the Library has developed an extensive cooperation with Guangzhou's sister city libraries, consulates located in Guangzhou and other social institutions and organizations and hosts various activities such as exhibitions, lectures, living library activities, book sharing activities.
      The Library launched the “Trip around the World” project in September, 2013. By December, 2017, the project had hosted over a hundred activities themed on 21 countries including Mexico, Canada, France, India, New Zealand, United States, Korea, Singapore and so forth. In January, 2016, the Library launched the Urban Innovation Forum, a cooperative project with the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou Municipal Government and the Guangzhou Institute for Urban Innovation. Based on the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation, the forum aims to introduce the outstanding innovations of cities all around the world.
      The Multicultural Library is looking forward to further co-operation with all types of organization to help build a strong cultural exchange platform for our city.
