Guangzhou Documentary Center (GZLIBDOC) was established in 2016 and opened on December 2018. As the first professional documentary public service platform in the public library in China, GZLIBDOC commits to collect, preserve, exhibit, research and offer all kinds of service about documentary. To promote development of documentary, GZLIBDOC takes five responsibilities as follows:
Preserve and show the heritage of documentary from China and Oversea;
Collect documentaries and visual materials about Guangzhou for preserving city’s history memory;
Promote events including screenings, talks, exhibitions and seminars to the public in Guangzhou Documentary Center, other public cultural organizations and educational institutions for improving citizen’s knowledge and literacy;
Inspire the study of documentary and cultivate professional filmmakers;
Engage in using documentary to enhance the culture communication between China and the foreign countries.
Collection
GZLIBDOC preserves documentaries, moving images, feature program, oral histories, manuscripts, photos and other archives, and aims to make four special collection systems:
